This set from SBS Model contains three resin Norden bombsights produced by 3D printing in 1:72 scale. It is not a model in its own right but an accuracy accessory meant to bring the interiors of American bombers of the Second World War to life. The parts are printed on thin supports that have to be removed before use.
The Norden bombsight was one of the best known instruments of Allied bomber aviation. It allowed a crew to release bombs reasonably accurately from high altitude and it became iconic equipment on machines such as the B-17, the B-24 and the B-25. A faithfully modeled bombsight is a pronounced detail of the glazed nose that everyone notices on a finished model.
Carefully separate the parts from the print supports with a sharp knife and level the surfaces with fine abrasive paper, with respiratory protection. Glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). We recommend a primer before painting, and the instrument itself is usually toned in metallic and dark shades with the details accentuated by a wash.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and without glue. It is not a model in its own right but a set for raising the detail of a kit.
