Turned barrel of the 2 cm KwK 38 gun in 1:35 scale from Aber: a metal replacement for a thin automatic barrel. It is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turned metal gun barrel in 1:35 scale for the German automatic gun of two centimeters caliber, designated KwK 38. It is not a kit but a replacement for a plastic part. On a barrel this thin, plastic is the weak point: the part is either exaggeratedly thick, or it bends and breaks. Metal holds its shape, takes a thin wall and the muzzle stays open, which shows more on a small caliber than on large guns.
The automatic gun of two centimeters caliber was one of the most widespread German weapons of this caliber. It was fitted into the turrets of light armored cars, into half-tracks and into light tanks, and its version also served as an anti-aircraft weapon. A fast rate of fire and available ammunition made it a versatile tool against lightly protected targets, against infantry and against low-flying aircraft.
Cut the plastic barrel off as close to the turret as you can and drill the seating surface so that the pin of the metal gun barrel sits firmly but does not pass all the way through. Degrease the metal with spirit and apply primer, or the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. It is glued with super glue, that is cyanoacrylate, drop by drop. Fit the barrel only at the end of the build, so that it does not get bent while you handle the model, and check its axis by eye from the front while the glue sets.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
