This is an injection-molded plastic kit of the British carrier-borne Supermarine Seafire FR Mk.47 fighter in 1:72 scale from Special Hobby. The package contains injection-molded plastic sprues, photo-etched parts and a decal sheet for four aircraft, some of which carried markings from the Korean War period. Parts for alternative external stores are also included, so the build can be varied.
The Seafire was the naval, carrier-borne version of the famous Spitfire. The Mk.47 was the very last and most powerful member of the line: it had hydraulically folding wings along their whole span (not merely the tips), a six-blade contra-rotating propeller and a powerful engine. As the last propeller-driven fighter of the Royal Navy it also took part in combat operations over Korea, flying from the decks of aircraft carriers.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and attach the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Finish the cockpit before closing the fuselage and mask the glazing, painting it last. Apply primer; naval schemes often combine dark upper surfaces with light undersides. A fine wash will bring out the engraved panels, and the complex full-span folding wings call for careful seating.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
