This aftermarket accessory is not a kit of the weapon but a precisely turned metal barrel from the Polish maker Aber for models of the 40 mm Bofors anti-aircraft gun in 1:48 scale. The metal barrel has a perfect circular cross section and a finely worked muzzle.

What it is for

The 40 mm Bofors automatic gun was among the most widespread anti-aircraft weapons of the Second World War and served with ground units and on the vessels of a range of countries. The slender long barrel is a feature well in view, and there metal clearly outdoes a plastic molding.

Use

• Cut off the plastic barrel as the instructions for the base model direct.
• Glue the metal part on with cyanoacrylate glue.
• Degrease it before painting and use a primer for metal.
