An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet Yak-1 fighter in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer Zvezda. It is a modern, newly developed tooling with finely engraved surface detail. The package allows both the early and the late production version of the Yak-1 to be built and also contains a pilot figure and a decal sheet with Soviet markings. Thanks to the reasonable number of parts and the good fit, the model suits less experienced builders as well.
The Yak-1 was the first fighter of Alexander Yakovlev's design bureau and one of the most successful Soviet fighters of the new generation at the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. It first flew at the start of 1940. It combined decent flying qualities with easy handling and a mixed wood-and-metal structure, which made series production easier. The machine became the basis for the whole successful line of Yak developments.
Use liquid modeling cement for plastic to glue the plastic parts. Before painting we recommend going over the surface with a primer, ideally with an airbrush. Soviet camouflage shows to advantage with careful shading, and you pick out the engraved panels with a thin wash. The pilot figure can be used in the assembled cockpit.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
