Revell 87 Earth Brown / Erdfarbe — RAL 7006 (Aqua Color, 18 ml)

A modeling paint in the shade 87 Earth Brown (Erdfarbe) to the RAL 7006 standard. It is a paint, not a kit and not a model. It belongs to the Aqua Color range, that is to say it is an acrylic, water-thinnable paint in a pot of 18 ml. It is thinned with water or with Aqua Color Mix thinner, has no aggressive organic solvents and the tools are washed with water after work. The finish of shade 87 is matte.

Do not confuse the series

Revell runs two paint ranges with the same shade numbers. Alongside the acrylic Aqua Color there is also the Email Color enamel range (a synthetic enamel, 14 ml, Revell Color Mix thinner). The shade 87 Earth Brown — RAL 7006 therefore exists in both ranges. This paint is acrylic (Aqua), not enamel; the two chemistries are thinned differently and are not mixed with one another.

Use

• Earthy brown is a classic weathering color: mud, dust, dried soil, deposits on the running gear and the suspension.
• It is applied thinned and unevenly rather than as a solid covering coat; the aim is a suggestion of dirt, not a flat area.
• Heavily thinned it works as a base for mud effects; it can also be stippled on with a sponge or applied with a dry brush.
• On dioramas it serves as the base tone of soil, tracks and churned-up ground.
• It is thinned with water or with Aqua Color Mix (about 20 to 25 percent at most); brushes are cleaned with water immediately after work.
