Acrylic Bases - Round 100 mm (Legion)

Acrylic Bases - Round 100 mm (Legion)

A round acrylic gaming base 100 mm in diameter. It belongs among gaming accessories, not among display plinths. A ten-centimeter circle is a full element of the gaming situation on the board: it holds area, it screens, and it determines where the model is measured from.

The area a model holds

Systems that work with holding points or with controlling territory usually count from the edge of the base. A model on a circle 100 mm across therefore covers a markedly larger part of a target zone than the same model on a smaller format, and at the same time touches an opponent's unit sooner. That is the practical reason why with large models the size of the base is not guessed but checked. The Legion designation in the name determines the size range the base belongs to; do not infer a particular gaming system from it and look into your own rules instead.

What to watch out for in play

• A large area helps when holding a point, but it hides behind terrain less easily.
• Contact with an opponent comes sooner, because the edge is far from the center of the model.
• A model on a large circle needs a wider corridor to move along.
• Inside a formation it maneuvers less easily than the smaller formats.

Who it is for

For players who need a large circular format under a large model, and for collectors standardizing a collection on one type of base. The name gives the acrylic material and the diameter; the other specifications are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging.
