A set of matte Ammo toning shades in a vivid rendition. It serves to lighten, darken and shift the color of a base coat that has already been sprayed.
Responsibility details are not available.
A shader is not an opaque color but a translucent tone, worked on over a base that has dried. One coat shifts the shade only slightly, further coats shift it more, so the modeler controls the saturation by the number of passes and need not mix a new shade every time a surface is to be brought into play. That is exactly what turns a single-color model into a model with lighter panel centers, darker edges and surfaces livened up in color, without the transitions being sharp. The set is in a matte rendition, so it leaves no gloss once dry that would have to be evened out with varnish.
It is a choice of saturated, vivid tones, that is shades meant more for livening up and shifting color than for subtle dirtying. They come into their own on modern vehicles with strong markings, on figures, on fantasy subjects and everywhere the color is meant to speak.
Lay the color on in several thin coats and let each one dry, or the tone will run together into a blotch. You can work with a brush and with an airbrush; with an airbrush a lower pressure and short bursts aimed at the middle of a surface work well. Shake the bottle thoroughly before use, as translucent tones tend to settle. Check thinning, cleaning the tools and any clear coat over the top in the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging.
For modelers who already have the basic spraying in hand and want to take a model further in the shading of its surfaces. The model, brushes and airbrush are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
