The designation Directional in the name refers to the adjustable mount, thanks to which a clamped part turns to the angle at which it is easiest to reach. This is not a kit but a workshop aid that is used on the modeling bench while building other models.
A whole range of operations can only be done properly when a part is held firmly and comfortably at the same time. That holds for drilling holes, cutting and cleaning up edges, scribing panel lines, bending and gluing photo-etched parts, and for small repairs as well, where one hand holds the tool and the other the tweezers. Free rotation moreover means that you do not have to shift your grip around the bench; you turn the part itself.
