ATOM COLOR Earth is a modeling paint, not a kit. It is a water-thinnable acrylic of the ATOM range by AMMO in a bottle of 20 ml. It has a very fine pigment, flows well, levels itself and dries flat; you use it with a brush and in an airbrush and it is odorless. The shade is earth, soil, a base, rather lighter and clayey tone from which most earth effects are built.
In photographs the two shades look similar, but in the hand the difference is clear. Earth is lighter, clayier and drier, looking like dry soil and dust in the light, which is why it is used as an overall base. The ATOM COLOR Earth Brown shade is darker, browner and deeper beside it; it belongs in shadows, in heavier deposits and in wetter mud. The ideal is to have both and combine them: Earth on flat areas and lit spots, Earth Brown in the recesses. Earth shades are also applied thinned and unevenly, like dirt, in streaks, patches and sprays from a distance, never as a continuous covering coat. Stipple, dab and let the base show through. Once dry the paint is durable, so you can lay washes, oils and pigments over it without risk.
For builders of dioramas and military vehicles, railroad modelers and figure painters, whenever earth, dust and mud are meant to show on a model.
A water-thinnable acrylic; tools are cleaned with water or with ATOM range thinner. Ventilate when airbrushing and protect your airways. Keep out of the reach of children and close the bottle carefully after use.
