The shade is named in full ATOM COLOR Mauve and in the ATOM range it stands at the end of the violet group. Mauve is a historically familiar term for a pale violet with a grayish cast, a color that never reads as garish and sits well next to subdued tones. In modeling a violet of this kind has its firm place: it appears, for example, in the camouflage of aircraft of the First World War and on period cloth and uniform accessories.
The shade will be appreciated by figure painters and modelers of historical subjects who find a saturated modern violet too strong for period cloth. It also serves as an intermediate step in mixing, because its grayish cast links the violet group with gray. If you are building a color transition, add the darker members of the same group to it.
Mix the paint well before working: after standing for a while the pigment settles to the bottom and unmixed paint gives a different tone. Work in thin coats and apply the next only once the previous one has dried; a single thick coat floods the detail. A test coat on an offcut of sprue will show you how the shade looks once dry. You will find the instructions for application and drying on the packaging from the manufacturer, so stick to them. Ventilate the room and store the paint out of the reach of children.
