Modeling screws with a half-round head 0.6 mm in diameter and with a six-lobe recess, the middle size of the fine line.
Responsibility details are not available.
A head 0.6 mm wide lies between the two ends of the range offered and tends to be the one most often used on a model. In 1:12 scale it matches a real element with a head of around seven millimeters, which is a typical size for the mounting of brake calipers, shields and footpegs. A real machine, meanwhile, never has fasteners of a single size, so mixing two or three diameters gives a build a credibility that a uniform size will never achieve.
The rounded shape has a practical effect on a model that is often underrated: a curved surface returns light at a different angle from the flat surface around it, so the element is noticeable even without being set apart in color. The lobed recess then makes a small dark point which in a photograph looks like a real tool socket. With a flat head this effect is missing entirely and the joint merges with the base.
The hole is best drilled with a micro drill bit in a pin vise, not in an electric drill; at diameters this small the bit likes to break at higher speeds. It is fitted only after the part has been painted, so that the paint does not clog the recess. If the joint is to look worn, it is enough to apply thinned brown paint with the tip of a brush and to wipe it off the top of the head at once, so that it stays only in the recess. In the same way the rubbing from a tool can be suggested, if the machine is to look as though someone had already turned it in a workshop and it was not a display piece.
