An assortment of hex bolt heads in a flat version, in the size range 0.5 mm to 1.2 mm. A low profile is an advantage anywhere something bears against the head or where the surface is to stay rather smooth: on inner walls, under parts that are fitted over them, on engine covers and on surfaces that fold tightly together once glued. The range of sizes covers both fine flanges and ordinary bolted joints.
Multiply the dimension by the figure of the scale and compare with the subject. In 1:35 scale the extreme sizes of this package correspond to roughly seventeen and forty-two millimeters, in 1:48 scale to twenty-four and just under sixty. The smaller end of the range suits small assemblies, the upper end where the joint is to be visible at first glance.
Before you start gluing, go over the part and lay out where each size will go; working row by row looks better than jumping about the surface. Decant the small parts onto a light surface with a rim and take them one at a time with the moistened tip of a toothpick or with fine-tipped tweezers. Meter a drop of cyanoacrylate glue onto the model, not onto the part. Low heads will take only a thin coat of paint, otherwise they are lost; the shape is brought back by a dark wash settled around the foot and a light lightening of the top.
For modelers who are finishing interiors, engine bays and surfaces where a taller head shape would be in the way when the parts are folded together. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
