A hand-painted set from the Scenic Accents line of the American maker Woodland Scenics on the theme of beekeeping. It shows beekeepers in protective clothing at work by the hives. The figures are cast from plastic resin and supplied finished, without gluing and without painting. HO scale corresponds to 1:87, that is to the most widespread size of model railroading.
A beekeeping scene is out of the ordinary and for that very reason it catches the attention on a layout. It suits the edge of an orchard, a country homestead, a meadow behind the track, the garden by a house or a slope where there is otherwise only grass. A small vignette of this kind can fill an area that would otherwise stay without any action, and it makes a viewer stop and look at the scene from close up.
White protective clothing is very high in contrast against a green base, so do not place the scene in the middle of the main view but rather off to the side, where it will come across as a discovery. Set the hives or their substitute out in a slightly irregular row, not exactly in line. Glue the figures with a small drop under the soles and sand the soles lightly if need be, so that they stand straight on a grassy surface. The gloss of the paint can be unified with a very fine spray of matte varnish from a greater distance.
The figures are supplied finished and hand-painted. Glue, terrain and further accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
