About product

Bluish Grey: an acrylic paint from AMMO of Mig Jimenez

An acrylic, that is water-thinnable, modeling paint. It is neither an enamel nor a lacquer, which determines both the thinner and its compatibility with other products. The shade is a gray with a clear blue cast. Cool grays like this play a part in modeling that a purely neutral gray cannot manage: they work as a shadow under blue and green surfaces without dirtying them toward brown, and on their own they serve well on cool-toned fabric, canvas and metal surfaces. The shade belongs to the range the maker put together for painting figures.

Use

  • Shake the bottle thoroughly before use, as settled pigment will otherwise shift both the shade and the coverage.
  • Thin with water or the same brand's acrylic thinner; it must not be mixed with enamels, lacquers or their thinners.
  • As a shadow color it works excellently thinned to a glaze: plenty of water, little paint, applied repeatedly into the recesses and folds. Let each coat dry.
  • For an even surface, choose two or three thin covering coats with a brush instead of one heavy one.
  • For the airbrush, thin it to the consistency of milk; grays spray easily and also serve well as an undercoat for preshading.
  • Let the dried paint cure and seal the surface with a final clear coat to suit the look you want.

Who the paint is for

For figure modelers who work with the layering technique and need a cool shadow tone, and for builders of vehicle models, where a gray-blue suits canvas elements, equipment and a base under cool camouflage colors. A water-thinnable binder means work with no solvent odor and easy washing out of brushes.

Keep out of the reach of children. When spraying with an airbrush, ventilate the room and protect your airways. Do not leave an open bottle standing, as acrylic thickens in the air.

FAQ

It has a blue cast, so when shading it does not drag blue and green surfaces toward brown and keeps the surface cool in tone.

Water or the same brand's acrylic thinner. Enamel and lacquer thinners curdle an acrylic binder and cannot be used.

Yes, and that is one of its best uses. Thin it heavily, apply it repeatedly into the folds and let it dry between coats.

Yes. Chemically it is an ordinary modeling acrylic suitable for plastic, resin and photo-etched parts.
