Even a modeler who sprays with an airbrush cannot do without a brush. An airbrush does the surfaces and the soft transitions, and everything else is finished with a brush: coloring in the instruments and the lights, bringing out raised edges with a dry brush, stippling and blending oil paints, applying varnish to a small place before a decal, or repairing a surface where paint has run under a mask. It is useful outside painting too, for instance for scattering pigment into the corners and then blending it in.
Take up the paint only on the front part of the bristles. Paint must not get into the ferrule, because from there it cannot be washed out, it dries and the bristles open out irreversibly. Always mix the paint thoroughly and thin it according to the instructions of the manufacturer, as thick paint leaves traces of the strokes. Apply two thin coats rather than one thick one and give each time to dry, or the brush will tear the previous coat off. Wash and degrease the surface of the model before painting.
Never put the brush down tip first into a container of thinner, as bent bristles will never straighten again. After work rinse it in the thinner that belongs to the paint used, then wash it in lukewarm soapy water, draw the tip to a point with your fingers and let it dry bristles upwards. For glue, filler and aggressive preparations set an older piece aside, as a good brush would harden from them.
A brush in the form stated on the packaging is supplied. Paints, thinner and other tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
