Replacement abrasive strips in a fine grit for the Flex-i-file sanding frame. They serve to smooth joints and for the final treatment of a surface before painting.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Flex-i-file sanding frame holds an abrasive strip tensioned between the arms of a springy frame. Squeezing the arms bows the strip into an arc, so it follows the curve of a fuselage or a hull and does not leave the flat spots that sanding with a rigid block produces. These strips are the consumable refill for such a frame and are supplied in a fine grit.
Fine grit practically no longer removes material, but it does level the marks left by coarser sanding and leaves an evenly smooth surface. It comes in at the end of the work: after sanding filler, after leveling the joint of two halves of a part and just before painting, when the base should look uniform. For coarse removal of surplus material a fine strip is on the contrary too slow; for that it is better to start with a coarser grit and only finish with a fine one.
Tension the strip in the frame so that it does not twist while sanding. Guide it along the joint, not across it, so that the surrounding engraving is not needlessly erased, and press only lightly; the grit should do the work, not force. Wipe the dust away as you go and check the shape by eye against the light, because a hollow is hard to find and even harder to fix. After sanding, wash the part, let it dry and degrease it before painting.
The sanding frame, the model, paints and filler are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
