Chibi-Maru Fleet Battleship Ise/Hyuga is a cute shortened kit of an Ise-class battleship from Fujimi, devoted to the sister ships Ise and Hyuga in their classic battleship form. This is not a scale model — the ship is deliberately distorted into a friendly form.

This kit from the Chibi-Maru Fleet line of the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi captures an Ise-class battleship — the name refers to the sister ships Ise and Hyuga in their classic battleship form. The miniature with its shortened hull, enlarged turrets and tall pagoda superstructure is not a scale model; it is a deliberately cute caricature that nonetheless keeps the unmistakable silhouette of the subject.
The battleships Ise and Hyuga were completed during the First World War and went through extensive modernization in the 1930s. In their classic configuration they carried a main armament of 356 mm in six twin turrets spread along the whole length of the hull — it is precisely this arrangement that makes their silhouette easy to recognize. Only later in the war were both rebuilt into hybrid carrier battleships; this kit, however, captures them in their original battleship form.
The build is quick and suitable even for a first encounter with a ship model. Paint the hull in Imperial Japanese Navy gray and set the deck apart with a wooden tone. Assemble and paint the six main armament turrets together so that they have a uniform shade. A fine wash will bring out the pagoda superstructure. For younger modelers we recommend the help of an adult because of the glue.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
