Replacement cockpit equipment for a 1:48 model of the F-105G Thunderchief. This accessory set replaces the cockpit supplied with the kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Thunderchief was one of the largest and heaviest combat aircraft of its day, and its two-seat F-105G version specialized in Vietnam in finding and destroying anti-aircraft systems. The crew consisted of a pilot and an operator who worked the equipment used to locate radars. The cockpits lie one behind the other and their equipment differs.
The set replaces the cockpit equipment of a 1:48 model. It brings shapes that are hard to transfer into injection-molded plastic and, because there are two cockpits, the finished interior takes up a large area of the model and shows clearly under the open canopies.
The parts are not polystyrene, so they are bonded with super glue. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little short of the part and sand off the rest. Wash and degrease the set before painting. Dry-fit the assembled interior between the fuselage halves until they close without pressure, and if need be sand down the mating surfaces from inside the fuselage. Paint part by part and leave the wash into the recesses for last, as it gives the small shapes depth.
The set is for modelers who build the model with the canopies open and who want the interior to stand up to a view from above as well. Expect the work to take longer and the small parts to need patient painting, because there are two cockpits. The kit itself, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
