Chibi-Maru Fleet Fuyuzuki is a cute shortened kit of the Japanese anti-aircraft destroyer Fuyuzuki from Fujimi. This is not a scale model — the ship is deliberately distorted into a small, friendly form.
Responsibility details are not available.
The destroyer Fuyuzuki as rendered by the Chibi-Maru Fleet line of the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi: a shortened hull, enlarged gun turrets and funnel and an altogether cute look. This is not a scale model — the proportions are deliberately distorted, so the finished ship comes across as a likeable miniature suited to a shelf or a desk. The build is quick and simple, ideal as a relaxing project.
Fuyuzuki belonged to the Akizuki-class destroyers, which the Imperial Japanese Navy designed above all for the anti-aircraft protection of its groups. The characteristic feature of the class was turrets with multi-purpose 100 mm guns with a high rate of fire. Fuyuzuki entered service toward the end of the war and in April 1945 escorted the battleship Yamato on her last voyage; she survived the air attack and lived to see the end of the war. The hulls of ships of this class later served in the building of a breakwater in a Japanese port.
Even a beginner will manage the small number of parts over one or two evenings. Paint the hull and the superstructures in the gray shade of the Imperial Japanese Navy, and the decks can be set apart slightly with a darker tone. A fine dark wash will bring out the turrets and the small details, and light drybrushing with a lighter gray will give the ship depth. We recommend that younger modelers build with the help of an adult because of the glue.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
