A plastic kit of the robot Cho Mashin Ryujinmaru from the Japanese brand Bandai. The parts are injection-molded from plastic colored right through and snap together, so the model gets its colors as it is assembled and the build manages without glue. That is the main reason this manufacturer's kits are popular even among people who do not otherwise build models.
Ryujinmaru is the central robot character of the Japanese series Mashin Hero Wataru, which combines robot subjects with a fairy-tale fantasy world. The design keeps to stylized samurai armor with dragon motifs and is deliberately colorful, which the kit matches by handling the colors through the choice of plastic rather than a coat of paint.
Separate the parts with modeling nippers, preferably a little away from the part, and finish the rest of the gate with a knife or a fine file, so that no light mark is left on the colored plastic. Assembly requires neither glue nor paints. Anyone who wants to take the result further can break the model down into subassemblies, spray them with acrylic or a varnish suited to plastic, pick out the parting and engraved lines with a panel color and unify the whole with a matte or semi-gloss varnish. On robot models the combination of a matte body with the details left glossy works well.
The model is assembled by snapping pre-colored parts together. Glue and paints are not needed for the build, and painting is optional.
