Red pigments are among the poorest covering of all. Over a dark or uneven base a red drowns into brown and needs so many coats that it floods the detail. Application tips

Start with a light, even base and apply the paint in thin coats until the tone evens out. Stir the bottle before work and between coats, otherwise the metal pigment stays at the bottom. Run the last coat evenly and without stopping, so the sparkle does not make darker streaks.
