About product

The color

A light gray tone intended for the interior of the cockpit of the MiG-29, that is for the seat, the side panels, the instrument panel and the inside of the canopy. On this machine the cockpit is clearly visible on a model, because the canopy is large and clear, so the shade shows in the result more than on aircraft with a cramped cockpit. The shades of interiors on machines of Soviet design differed according to the production batch and according to what a machine went through during repairs, so a slight departure from a color chart is not a mistake.

Thinning and application

Use the thinner intended for this range and the thinning ratio according to the instructions from the manufacturer on the package. Mix the paint before work and apply it in thin coats; the interior carries the fine relief of controls and panels, which a thick coat floods. Paint the cockpit before the fuselage is assembled, while the parts can still be seen and held by the edges.

Building and painting tips

On a dried base, a darker tone in the recesses works well, drawing out the panels and the controls, and conversely a light dry brush a shade lighter, which lifts the edges. Paint the dials and the small levers with a brush of a few hairs, not with an attempt at accurate spraying. Fit the canopy only after the interior is finished and protect its inner surface from fingerprints, or the work under the clear part will be lost.

  • the thinner intended for this range, the ratio according to the instructions from the manufacturer
  • it is applied in thin coats so that the relief of the panels stays visible
  • usable regardless of the scale of the model
