A gray shade from Hataka's Orange Line, listed under the name Concrete Grey and under the code RAL 7023. The name refers to the color of concrete, that is, to a neutral gray with no markedly warm or cool cast. On a model such a tone is used wherever concrete is to be seen: retaining walls, road slabs, hardstands and diorama surfaces. It also serves as a base from which a whole range of gray tones is built up with dust and washes.
RAL is a German standard of shades in which every tone has a four-digit number. The opening digit sorts the shade into a color group, and seven belongs to the grays; the rest of the number defines the particular tone. The designation is unambiguous, so you can use it to compare the shade with paints of other lines even when they carry a different name.
Shake the bottle well before work; on standing the pigment settles at the bottom. The thinner intended for this line and the thinning ratio are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging; reach for it when cleaning the tools as well. Apply in thin coats and let them become tacky between passes, because a single heavy coat floods fine surface detail. Wash the surface of the parts beforehand, degrease it and go over it with a primer that evens out the differences between materials.
Thinner, brushes and airbrushes are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
