A kit of a robot in deformed proportions, that is with a large head and shortened limbs. It belongs to the modular Cross Silhouette series, whose principle is that the inner frame can be swapped for a slimmer variant, so the robot takes on either a stocky or a more elongated silhouette. The parts are injection-molded in colored plastic and are joined by snapping together, so you assemble the model without glue and without painting. The manufacturer is Bandai, the Japanese brand that introduced this type of kit.
Snap-fit construction means that the parts are held by their shape and the build is quick — it is the usual way into modeling for those who do not yet want to work with glue. The articulated joints let you pose the robot, so the model can be displayed statically and rearranged as well. Weapons and accessories are usually included; the instructions in the box list them.
Nip the parts off a little away from the surface and trim the gate with a sharp knife, so that no white stress marks are left on the edges. The easiest improvement is a panel wash into the engraved lines and a matte varnish, which subdues the shine of the plastic and unifies the look. If you want to paint, start with a primer, because colored plastic holds paint less well. On the joints, watch out for too much varnish, as it could make movement harder.
The model is supplied unassembled. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. The manufacturer does not state a scale for this series.
