A single drill bit of 1.4 mm diameter from the modeling range of the Japanese brand Mineshima. This size is already above the limit of the finest details; it suits where a hole carries something or where it is meant to be seen as a bore. The L10 series is graded in tenths of a millimeter, so you can buy exactly the size the pin, the axle or the tube you are working with calls for, and you do not have to tune the hole with a knife.
At this diameter it is already a matter of removing material, so drill in two steps: a centering hole with a thin bit first, and only then the final size. That raises the accuracy markedly, because the larger bit has nowhere to wander. In a thin wall of a part, press carefully, because the moment the bit breaks through it tends to bite and tear the edge out. A hole for a pin is better drilled a little shallower and then taken to depth, so that the part seats in the end.
For modelers who modify and finish kits, fit resin accessories with pins or build dioramas with pinned joints. For the work you need a pin vise or a micro drill with a sufficient clamping range.
