A black with a pearl effect, listed under the name Cosmic Black, in a gloss finish. Pearl paints contain tiny translucent particles that do not reflect light like a mirror but refract and break it up. A black surface is therefore not dead: depending on the viewing angle a tint appears in it and the edges of a car body stand out optically. The gloss supports the effect, because a smooth surface lets the light reach the pearl particles and come back again.
Above all on car and motorcycle bodies, where pearl finishes are used on real vehicles too. It also works on accessories, helmets, interior parts and on collector work where the black is meant to be more interesting than flat.
Pearl forgives almost nothing. The base must be smooth and sealed, because every scratch and fingerprint will be more visible once it has dried than before. Stir the bottle before use and during work, as the particles settle at the bottom. Apply it in thin, evenly drawn coats and always cover the whole surface in one go; touching in a single spot leaves a patch you can no longer even out, and the repair means respraying the entire part. A pearl surface is neither sanded nor polished; the final depth of gloss comes only from a clear coat. For thinning and the cleaning of tools, follow the manufacturer's instructions.
The paint is supplied on its own. A primer, clear coat, thinner and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Work in a ventilated room and store the bottle closed and out of the reach of children.
