A set of ten turned metal rounds in 8.8 cm caliber in the large 1:16 scale from the Polish maker Aber. It is not a model of a vehicle but a diorama accessory, precisely turned cases and shells that look faithful beside an open tank, in an ammunition rack or laid out in the base of a diorama. The 8.8 cm caliber was used by German machines such as the Jagdpanther tank destroyer, the King Tiger (Tiger II) heavy tank and the Nashorn self-propelled anti-tank gun. Neither the kit of the vehicle nor a diorama is included in the package; you add the ammunition to your own scene.
Metal parts have a perfectly symmetrical, smooth profile and sharply stepped edges of a kind that is hard to cast in plastic. Metal also holds paint and patina well and stands up to handling without the risk of snapping. The result is realistic ammunition with the metallic sheen of the case and a differently toned head on the shell, exactly what makes a military scene believable.
The parts serve as loose props for a diorama; you set them in a crate, in a rack or lay them out around a gun. Use a drop of cyanoacrylate glue to fix them to a base. The cases are usually painted in a brass or dull yellow shade and the heads of the shells in a darker steel or in period color markings; a fine wash and pigments for dust and wear help at the end.
These are turned metal ammunition parts, not a model of a vehicle. The kit of the tank, a diorama base, glue and paints are not included in the package.
