A latrine in 1:35 scale as an accessory for a diorama, variant 1.
Responsibility details are not available.
A latrine is an inconspicuous but unusually strong element in a diorama. A viewer does not expect it in a model, and when they find it they stop seeing the scene as a display of equipment and start reading it as a place where people really lived. It therefore suits everywhere that it is to show that a crew or inhabitants stayed in a place for a longer time: at a camp, at a repair yard, at the edge of a village or behind a half-ruined house. The name gives the number of the variant; the particular rendering is shown by the box of the set.
Best to one side of the main action, at the edge of the base or behind an obstacle, so that it does not take attention away from the scene. Credibility is helped by a worn path leading to it, tools set down a little further off and surrounding vegetation that is not trimmed level. The little structure does not have to be seated square: a slight lean and sinking into the terrain looks better than standing it on a flat surface.
If the parts are not polystyrene, cement for plastic models has no effect on them and they are bonded with super glue. Cut excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder. Before painting, wash and degrease the surfaces; the exact procedure for preparation is given by the manufacturer in the instructions. Choose the paints according to what material the little structure is to represent; small upright structures gain depth when a dark glaze is drawn into the corners and gaps and the edges are lightly brought out.
The accessory is sold on its own. Figures, vehicles, paints and glue do not belong with it, unless stated otherwise.
