This injection-molded plastic kit from Aoshima in 1:12 scale captures the legendary Honda Monkey Z50J-1 minibike of 1978. The model reproduces the characteristic teardrop tank, the frame and the engine faithfully. Vinyl tubing stands in for the wires and hoses, and the parts are laid out for an easy build.
The Honda Monkey is a small motorcycle with small wheels and a low seat that became a cult icon from the 1960s onward. Its compact dimensions, simple mechanics and playful looks won it followers all over the world, and it is a favorite basis for collectors and for conversions alike.
The frame and the engine come out best once painted and lightly shaded, and the teardrop tank once coated with gloss lacquer. Given the small dimensions of the model, careful work with small parts and clean gluing with thin plastic cement pay off. Vinyl tubing fills in the wiring.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
