This kit from the brand Academy captures the naval form of the French multirole combat aircraft. The letter M in the designation sets apart the single-seat carrier version intended for operation from an aircraft carrier. The model is supplied unassembled, in injection-molded plastic.
The Rafale came about as France's answer to the need for a single type that could handle air combat, attack on ground targets and reconnaissance. The naval variant differs from the land-based ones above all in its reinforced nose landing gear with a guide element for the catapult, a tailhook and modifications to the structure that stand up to hard landings on deck. It flies from the French aircraft carrier and carries a wide mix of external stores from air-to-air guided missiles to precision-guided munitions against ground targets. Characteristic of it is the combination of a delta wing with forward canards, thanks to which it keeps its maneuverability even at a high angle of attack.
In this scale what counts is clean seams and fine engraved lines. It pays to spray the gray shades in two tones, so that the model does not look flat. Assemble and paint the external stores separately and attach them only once the finish is done. Mask the clear canopy and varnish it with a gloss varnish before the decals are applied.
