The kit captures the unmistakable angular, faceted shape and the V-shaped tail fins; even in the small 1:144 scale its sharply broken silhouette stands out. The F-117A Nighthawk was an American single-seat subsonic attack aircraft and the first combat machine designed primarily for a low radar signature. Its surface is made up of a network of flat facets that scatter radar beams, and its matte black finish was matched to night operations. It carried its armament in an internal weapons bay so as to keep its stealth qualities. It was used for precision strikes on heavily defended targets and became a symbol of stealth technology.
In 1:144 scale the parts are small - clean them up carefully with a sharp knife. The faceted surfaces have to line up crisply, so sand the seams carefully. Mask the cockpit glazing before spraying. The matte black finish is demanding - lay it on with an airbrush over primer in thin coats and set the edges apart slightly, so that the model does not look flat. A matte overcoat will unify the surface.
