Injection-molded plastic kit of the American LCAC (Landing Craft Air Cushion) landing hovercraft in 1:144 scale from Trumpeter. The box contains parts for the main deck and for the lower section and a flexible rubber skirt to represent the air cushion, plus decals. It is a less common and attractive subject among modern landing craft.
The LCAC is a fast, fully amphibious landing hovercraft of the US Marine Corps. On its air cushion it can carry a load of tens of tons at more than 40 knots from the deck of a dock ship straight onto the shore and across the beach further inland. It carries combat vehicles, supplies and troops and, in various upgrades, has served from the 1980s to the present day.
Use thin cement for plastic and work in subassemblies. Attach the flexible rubber skirt and the fine antennas at the end of the build so that they do not get damaged in handling. Apply a primer before painting and put the paint on with an airbrush. Restrained weathering, salt marks and wear on the lower section suit this type nicely. The model comes into its own on its own stand or as part of a diorama with a beach and a dock ship.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
