A plastic kit of the open Shelby Cobra 427 sports car of the 1965 model year in 1:24 scale. The model is assembled and painted according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Shelby Cobra 427 came about by combining a light British two-seat roadster with a large-displacement American V8. The number in the designation gives the displacement of the engine in cubic inches, which works out at about seven liters. Against the earlier, weaker versions the car received a wider track, strongly flared fenders and a massive cooling opening in the nose. The pairing of low weight with high power made it one of the best-known American sports cars of the 1960s.
The kit captures the open two-seater in 1:24 scale, the size in which most car models are collected. The finished model therefore matches the other cars on the shelf or in the display case. The number of parts and the finish options on offer are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water before painting and let them dry, so that the paint holds even where grease was left behind from production. Paint the body in thin coats with enough of a pause for drying; a gloss finish comes into its own only on a smooth undercoat, so it is worth sanding the surface beforehand with fine abrasive paper. Separate the parts with a sharp knife or with side cutters a little away from the part and sand the remaining material back, so that no burr is left on a visible surface. For the glazing choose a glue meant for clear parts, because ordinary cyanoacrylate glue fogs them.
The paints, the glue, the abrasives and a display case are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
