Miniart 1:24 – a set of fuel and oil drums from the years 1930 to 1950, the second in the line serves as equipment for a scene. It is not a model of a vehicle but a prop that gives a scene a believable setting.

This item is an accessory set of props from the brand Miniart. The name gives the position Set 2 and the time span of the years 1930 to 1950, that is sheet-metal containers of the kind that then stood by filling pumps, in field depots and behind the gates of country garages. The size 1:24 is the home scale for large automobile models, so the drums will suit a car, a motorcycle and small period machinery of the same line.
Drums are among the most rewarding fillers for a scene. Stood along the wall of a workshop, rolled over in the grass or loaded on a cargo bed, they give a scene depth and fill the dead spots around the main exhibit. In a large scale the shaping of the shell also comes out: the hoops, the ribs of the sheet metal and the closures are among the first things a viewer focuses on.
It pays to begin with a matte base coat, go on with a shade to suit the scene chosen and only then add the wear. Rust is built from a dark core toward lighter edges, and oil traces come from a thin glaze running down from the lid. Lettering and markings can be suggested with a dry brush. A container that looks as though it had just been delivered from the works gives a scene away rather than helping it.
The props are supplied unassembled and unpainted. The paints, the glue and the base of the scene are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
