This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:24 scale from Italeri captures the modern European Scania R730 Streamline semi-trailer tractor. The model faithfully reproduces the characteristic Streamline cab with its sloping aerodynamic front and the top version with the flagship V8 engine. The box contains plastic parts, rubber tires, a set of decals and usually also a sheet of self-adhesive chrome and metallic items for the decoration typical of striking show trucks. Check the exact contents of the decoration against the manufacturer's information.
The Scania R730 is among the best of modern long-distance tractor units. The designation 730 refers to the output of the turbocharged V8 of around 730 horsepower, which makes the Scania one of the most powerful production tractors on European highways. The Streamline cab is notable for improved aerodynamics and high comfort for long-distance haulage. R-Series trucks with the Scania V8 are also popular as representative, richly decorated show trucks at truck meetings.
For a faithful look, spray the cab and the bodywork with an airbrush and cover them with a gloss clear coat — deep gloss is essential on tractor units. For the chrome and polished items (bumpers, exhausts, mirrors, grilles) either use the metallic sheet enclosed or spray them with metallic paint; that is applied last and looks better on a smooth base. Glue the plastic parts with liquid modeling cement and the small chrome accessories with cyanoacrylate. Apply the sponsor decals and the pinstriping onto a dried gloss coat and then fix them with a matte or semi-gloss clear coat as you prefer.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
