Consolidated B-24D and B-24J Liberator 1:32 is a set of pre-cut Eduard masks for the extensive glazing of the model. It is an accessory for a kit, not a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains machine-cut self-adhesive masks in kabuki material for a model of the Consolidated B-24 four-engine bomber in the D and J versions in 1:32 scale. On a machine this size there really is a lot of glazing: the cockpit, the nose glazing, the turrets and the side windows. Cutting tape by hand would take hours and the result would be uneven. It is not a kit but an aid to painting one. The masks are cut to fit a particular kit, so check before buying that they match your own.
The B-24 Liberator was an American four-engine bomber with a high-mounted Davis wing and twin vertical tails. The D version was one of the earlier variants with a glazed nose, whereas the later J had a powered gun turret in the nose, which changes both the shape and the layout of the glazing. The set covers both of these variants, so it also suits anyone still choosing which version to build.
The parts are lifted off the sheet with tweezers and laid down exactly along the outline of the frames. The material follows curves, so it holds on the turrets and on the nose glazing as well. The open areas in the middle of the panes are covered with the remainder of the sheet or with liquid mask. Press the edges down with a toothpick so that no paint creeps under them, and spray in several thin coats. Lift the masks off shortly after the paint has dried. Given the number of glazed areas, it pays to work section by section and to keep checking that nothing has been missed.
The set contains masks only. Paints, glue and the model are not included in the package.
