Omask 1:72 L-29 Delfin, masks for the glazing (for AMK / Eduard)

A masking set from the Czech maker Omask, intended for models of the L-29 Delfin in 1:72 scale from AMK and Eduard. The masks are cut from yellow masking tape (of the kabuki type), which follows the rounded shape of the glazing well, holds in place and leaves no adhesive behind when lifted. In the Omask range, masks and landing gear bay plugs are two different things, and this is a masking set for the glazing, not plugs.

The real subject

The L-29 Delfin is a Czechoslovak jet trainer from Aero Vodochody, the first series-produced jet of home design. In the 1960s it became the standard trainer of much of the Eastern bloc and was built in large numbers, which puts it among the best known home-grown aircraft of all. For Czech and Slovak modelers it is a classic on which it pays to have the cockpit look clean.

Use

• Peel the mask off its backing film and stick it onto the clear part according to the instructions.
• Press the edges down properly (with a toothpick or a blunt stick), so that paint does not run under.
• It is best to spray the interior color first and then the base shade of the frames.
• Apply the paint in thin coats, as a heavy coat forms a ridge and peels off.
• Lift the mask while the paint is merely dry, not fully cured; the tip of a scalpel or tweezers will help.

Who the set is for

For modelers who build the L-29 in 1:72 and do not want to spend hours cutting masks from tape. It saves time and, above all, gives sharp, straight edges to the frames, a detail that everyone notices on a finished model.
