The OV-10 Bronco is a twin-boom turboprop machine designed for reconnaissance, for directing fire and for light attack in the immediate support of ground units. The OV-10D+ version was a late modernization intended for the Marine Corps: it received stronger propulsion, a strengthened structure and equipment for night observation. The Bronco became famous for its ability to operate from short and unpaved strips and it held on in service right up to the 1990s.
Flying kit is rewarding in that it combines several surfaces: a hard helmet, a matte coverall, the straps of the harness and a glossy visor. It pays to paint the helmet separately and to add fine highlighting on the high points to it, so that the shape stands out. Set the harness apart with a contrasting shade. Suggest the reflection on the visor with a narrow light stroke along the upper edge. The coverall will take slight soiling around the knees and the elbows; the flying personnel moved in tight spaces around the machine and white cleanliness would look untrue.
