A large injection-molded plastic kit of the American Curtiss P-40F Warhawk fighter in 1:32 scale from Trumpeter. Thanks to the large scale the model offers a richly broken-down surface, a detailed cockpit and landing gear wells; clear canopy parts and fine details are usually included too. Check the actual package contents and the decals against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The P-40F was the version of the Warhawk powered by the Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine, built under license in the United States by Packard. That is exactly why this variant lacks the characteristic carburetor intake on top of the nose, typical of the version with the Allison engine. Allied forces flew the P-40F above all in the Mediterranean and in North Africa from 1942 onward. It was a sturdy, tough machine suited to low and medium altitudes.
Glue the parts with a thin cement for plastic, fill the seams and sand them down. In a large scale it pays to spend time on the cockpit and the engine section: paint them and bring out the detail before the fuselage is closed. Mask the glazing, apply a primer and spray the camouflage with an airbrush; bring out the panel lines with a wash and add the wear that matches service in the desert.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
