This injection-molded plastic kit from the manufacturer Trumpeter represents the Chinese license-built MiG-17F fighter, designated J-5 in home service and F-5 for export, in the large 1:32 scale. The parts are in gray and clear plastic and decals are included in the box; the model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The MiG-17F was a single-seat day fighter with subsonic performance that followed on from the proven MiG-15. The Chinese J-5 version was built from the second half of the 1950s at the Shenyang factory and formed the backbone of the day fighter force. The swept wings, the afterburner and the armament of cannons are characteristic.
Sand the joints of the fuselage and the leading edges carefully, so that the smooth profile of the airframe shows to advantage. Mask the cockpit and paint with an airbrush in layers. The metallic and aluminum shades of the airframe come out well on a smooth, well polished base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
