This resin tarpaulin from the Italian maker Royal Model is intended to cover the bed of a model of the German medium half-track carrier of the Sd.Kfz. 251 series in 1:35 scale. The casting faithfully imitates a cloth tarpaulin with realistic folds, buckles and sag; it gives the model the look of a vehicle on the march and simplifies the building of the interior, which stays hidden. It is an accessory, not a model of the vehicle.
The Sd.Kfz. 251 was a German medium half-track armored personnel carrier of the Second World War, deployed to transport infantry and in a number of specialized versions. A tarpaulin over the fighting compartment was used in the field during moves and in bad weather and it is a typical element of period photographs. The designation C refers to the variant of the hull (Ausf.C).
Wash the resin casting clean of mold release agent and cut off the casting block. Seat the tarpaulin on the edges of the bed and glue it with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), filling the transitions if need be. Apply a primer before painting; paint the cloth with shading of the folds using a wash, filters and drybrushing for a faithful textile look.
This is an additional resin part, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
