A diorama accessory of the Vallejo brand in 1:35 scale. According to the name this is the frontage of a factory building with dimensions of 31 x 16 x 20 cm, that is a piece of architecture which in a scene fulfills the role of backdrop and background. It is not a model of hardware: there is no vehicle and no figure in the package, and the accessory by itself does not make a finished diorama, it is a building block of one.
The frontage of a building tends to be the rear wall of a diorama scene. It closes the view off, gives the model a scale of comparison and creates the setting to which the hardware or the figure belongs. The dimensions stated are generous enough for a complete model in 1:35 to fit in front of the facade while room is left for paving, rubble and small props. It can be used on its own on a base as well as part of a more extensive urban or industrial scene.
Before painting, wash the part with lukewarm water and detergent and let it dry thoroughly - you get rid of dust and of any residue from manufacture. Primer follows. With masonry a darker base proves itself, on which the edges of the bricks and of the flaked plaster are drawn out by dry brushing. Then bring the area to life with thin glazes and a wash into the joints, and at the end add pigments at the foot of the walls, where in reality dust and mud collect. Always lead the traces of damp from the top downward, so that they follow the running of water.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue, a base and further diorama material are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
