Workshop and repair scenes cannot do without a welding set. This package brings the small equipment that belongs in field workshops, repair companies and civilian scenes alike. It is used as a scenic accessory, not as part of one particular machine, and comes in as well on a display base as in a more extensive scene.
Welding with oxygen and acetylene was the basic technology of repairs in the field during the Second World War. The gas cylinders were carried on simple trolleys, hoses led to the torch and the welder worked in a leather apron with dark goggles. Torn fenders, cracks in beams and broken-off hitches were repaired with sets like these. Most damaged vehicles did not go back for factory repair but were put back into service right behind the front, often in the course of a single night.
You will paint small objects most conveniently if you glue them to a wooden skewer before separating them or leave them hanging on the fret. A dark wash will run into the hollows and draw out the shape, and final drybrushing will accentuate the edges. The gas cylinders tended to be distinguished by color according to the gas they contained.
The set is without a surface finish; paints and glues are bought separately.
