This is a photo-etched metal diorama accessory which is not a model of a vehicle or a kit. It reproduces an ornamental wrought entrance gate of type C in 1:35 scale, suitable for fencing yards, farmsteads and town scenes. The thin etched form faithfully captures the latticework and the ironwork, which would look coarse in plastic.
A gate creates a natural point of entry in a diorama and gives the scene scale and a story. It goes together with the matching wicket gate and fence of the same type, so a continuous fence can be built around vehicles or buildings.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife on a hard surface and glue them together with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Degrease the metal before painting and apply a base color for metal. The effect of wrought steel is supported by a dark base, dry-brushing in a metallic shade and rusty washes where it is worn.
