Injection-molded plastic kit of the self-propelled anti-aircraft mount in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter, in the early version. The eight-tonne Sd.Kfz.7 half-track tractor here carries a single-barrel 37 mm anti-aircraft gun (the Flak 37) on a rotating mount. The kit has a newly shaped one-piece front fender and opening side and top panels on the engine cover; an Sd.Anhänger 52 ammunition trailer is in the box as well.
The Sd.Kfz.7/2 came about by mounting the 37 mm anti-aircraft gun on the eight-tonne half-track tractor after the earlier five-tonne chassis proved no longer adequate for this weapon. Production ran from 1942 to the end of the war and around a thousand were built. The early version corresponds to machines without the later armor on the cab and the radiator, which was introduced only afterwards as protection against splinters and small arms fire. The 37 mm gun filled the gap between light twenty-millimeter weapons and heavy anti-aircraft artillery.
The opening side and top panels of the engine cover make it possible to display the detailed engine, so paint and weather it before you close it up. The mount can be built so that it rotates, and the drop sides can be folded down into the firing position. Primer, an airbrush and liquid cement for plastic are recommended; glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Bring the running gear and the trailer to life with washes and pigments for dust and mud and pick out the edges gently with dry-brushing.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
