An injection-molded plastic model of the American wheeled armored vehicle LAV-A2 8x8 in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. It is the modernized A2 version of the LAV vehicle used by the United States Marine Corps (USMC). The set offers a finely rendered interior, a well-worked lower and upper hull and the turret; the crew entry doors can be fixed in the open or the closed position. Besides the plastic parts the package also contains a photo-etched sheet.
The LAV (Light Armored Vehicle) is a light amphibious wheeled armored vehicle in an 8x8 layout which has served with the United States Marine Corps since the 1980s. The A2 version brought improved armor protection and a modernized sighting system with a laser rangefinder and thermal imaging. The vehicle stands out for high mobility and the ability to swim, and it serves in a whole range of roles from reconnaissance to direct fire support. The turret carries the main gun complemented by machine gun armament.
Build a military vehicle with the order of assembly in mind: finish and paint the chassis, the wheels and the hull interior before you close the hull up, when they will no longer be accessible. Glue the plastic parts with thin modeling cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Apply a primer before painting and use an airbrush. You bring the final look to life with washes to accentuate the rivets and the pressings and pigments for mud and dust effects on the chassis and the wheels.
