The real subject

The M-ATV is an American wheeled armored vehicle of the MRAP category with a tall, enclosed cab. The crew sits in it in fixed seats with multi-point belts, which are conspicuously visible through open doors and under the hatch. The belts are exactly the kind of element where the difference between a roughly built and a properly finished interior shows most.

What the set contains

Colored three-dimensional seat belts prepared for the kit from Rye Field Model in 1:35 scale. The webbing and the fittings are rendered in color and have fine relief, so once applied they do not look like a flat sticker. The set concentrates on the belts alone and does not cover the instrument panel or the other interior panels.

Application

First spray the seats and the frame around them and let them dry completely; the surface has to be smooth, clean and degreased. Before applying them, check the manufacturer's instructions to see whether the elements are self-adhesive. The method of application differs between the individual ranges and the set does not settle it in its designation. Separate the belts with a sharp blade, transfer them with tweezers and lead them across the seat so that they follow its shape and sag slightly; press them down with a soft tool so that they sit into the hollows and over the edges.

For the modeler building a vehicle with the doors or the hatch open who wants convincing-looking belts in the cab without folding photo-etched parts. The work is short, but it needs fine tweezers, a sharp blade and a steady hand. The set does not contain the kit, paints or glue, unless stated otherwise.
