Figures of the crew of an armored vehicle of the Chinese People's Liberation Army in 1:35 scale. The crew is the part of a model that tells the viewer fastest which army it belongs to, and at the same time it gives the vehicle its scale. Without a figure even a large tank on a shelf looks like an indeterminate object; with a painted figure in the hatch it is immediately clear how tall the machine is.
Injection-molded polystyrene parts of the figures on sprues, 1:35 scale. They are assembled like any plastic model: cut the parts off with a sharp blade a little away from the sprue, clean up, fill and sand the seams at the shoulders, the waist and where the head sits, otherwise the mold parting line will show once the figure is painted. The scale matches the usual armor kits, so the figures can be used with most vehicles of that size.
Work from a base coat through a dark wash into the folds to lightening the high points with a dry brush; leave the faces and hands for last and paint them in thin layers. If you are seating the figures in hatches, try them in the vehicle dry before painting, because not every hatch will take a figure in any pose. Glue them in right at the end, since a painted figure is harder to handle.
