An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Tiger II heavy tank in 1:35 scale from Hobby Boss. The box captures the form with the so-called Henschel turret from 1944 production, that is the most widespread appearance of this machine.
The Tiger II, in German Panzerkampfwagen Tiger Ausf. B, was the heaviest German series-produced tank of the Second World War. It carried the long-barreled 8.8 cm KwK 43 gun, which could destroy Allied vehicles at long range, and frontal armor sloped on the pattern of the Panther. The price of that strength was a weight of around seventy tons, heavy fuel consumption and an unreliable drivetrain and transmission. The first machines had the rounded turret of the original design, but the great majority of vehicles received the more angular turret produced by Henschel. Its commitment began in the summer of 1944 and continued on both the Western and the Eastern Front until the end of the war.
The long barrel has to sit true, so dry-fit it and attach it only after the turret is painted. Finish and paint the running gear with its interleaved wheels before you fit the tracks and the fenders. For 1944, the three-color camouflage over a yellow base is the right choice, and it can be sprayed over masking putty or freehand. The detail stands out after a dark wash and edge highlighting, and dust and mud are best concentrated on the running gear and the lower edge of the hull.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
